Five Minute Friday: Alive

alive-600x600

The word for this week’s Five Minute Friday is “Alive.”  **Make sure to click on the image above to check out some other great posts from the linkup**  Here goes:

When I hear this word one thing that come to mind is the first part of Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

Therefore, it is not shut up in a book, applicable only when we open it.  No, this verse says God’s Word is ALIVE and ACTIVE in our lives!  I believe this is good news for us to hear.

One way I have seen this recently is by going back and looking at the Bible verses God gave me at different times in my life that are especially meaningful to me.  I wrote a post about each one during Write31Days last October.

I finally got around to putting links to all those posts on a chronological list in a new page on my blog.  Check it out at “My Life Verses” here or on my sidebar anytime.  It was fun to go back and re-read my old posts, as well as look back at God’s hand in my life from childhood until now!

      Hi Helen,
That is true that we can’t ever underestimate the power of prayer too. Often that is the last place I go to instead of turning to the power of prayer first thing! Appreciate your reminder.
      Thanks,
      Bethany

“Alive” is what I love about God’s Word. Unlike other books, God’s Word is transforming and healing. You can read the same passage multiple times and it can impact us differently each time. Thanks, Bethany, for this!

Yep, that is one thing I like about God’s Word too! It never hits you the same way twice depending on what the Holy Spirit has to show you and the circumstances of you life at the time.
      Thanks,
      Bethany
