The word for this week’s Five Minute Friday free-write is “enjoy.” (Click on the image above to find some other great posts in the linkup too.) Here goes:
I’ve often said that I am content with my life but sometimes I wonder, “Do I take the time to really enjoy my life? Do I sit back and appreciate the gifts, large and small, that God has given me?” These are some good questions to consider as we are smack-dab in the middle of November and headed for Thanksgiving here soon.
Speaking of being thankful for things, I think there is one way I have been starting to enjoy and appreciate my life more. Over the last few months I have tried to participate daily in The Prayer of Examen. In doing this, I take time to look back over a 24-hour time period and ask myself a couple questions: “Where have I found joy?” and “What has drained me?” At the end of this time of reflection, I thank God for being there with me through it all – both the good and the hard times.
I feel doing this regularly has helped me to look more for the little things in life to enjoy and to be thankful/grateful for these things too! Why don’t you give it a try sometime?
