The word for this week’s Five Minute Friday free-write is “joy.” (Click on the image above to find some other great posts in the linkup too.) Here goes:
When I think of joy I think of my nanny kiddos playing in the first snowfall of the season today. They’re only three years old and Seattle hasn’t had much snow in the past couple years. So this is pretty much the first time we’ve had snow here in town that they can remember.
My one little kiddo, when he came down the stairs to the window this morning, said right away to me, “Bethany, you have to come and see. Quick, come and see!” His pure joy and excitement over the wintry world outside was contagious.
Then, once my other charge got dropped off, we bundled up and went outside to enjoy the fresh snow all over the ground. Their squeals and giggles were a delight to hear and it made me wonder when the joy of the little things in life wears off. Ah, but to be a kid again!
“At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children” (Matthew 11:25).
