Five Minute Friday: Present

Today’s Five Minute Friday word is “Present.”  Here goes:

What comes to mind when I see this word is a bookmark I had as a kid with this quote, “A book is a PRESENT you can open again and again.”  This sure fit me with my love of reading and my ability to re-read my favorite books over and over.

But then my mind also goes to the thought that the “Good Book” is also a present from God that keeps on giving.  I often find that I can read the same passage of Scripture at different times in my life and it will speak to me in completely different ways or I will get a new truth from it that I hadn’t thought of before.  Does this happen to you too?

I guess because of this I see the value and importance of being in the Word of God consistently (I don’t say daily because that is not always something I can live up to).  But realizing that the verse that says something like, “God’s word never comes back empty” is so true! (Isaiah 55:11)

Yes, I definitely have the same experience with re-reading scripture! (I can’t say I re-read too many other books, because there are so many GREAT ones out there that I haven’t read yet!)

I’ve had a much easier time reading my Bible regularly since I started keeping it on my nightstand. Now there’s nothing to distract me from doing it first thing in the morning!

Bethany, nice to meet you. Actually I usually link up earlier but glad I linked up later so I could meet you. I’m a book lover too! Thanks for stopping by my blog too.
