Five Minute Friday: Quiet

quiet-600x600

The prompt this week for Five Minute Friday is “Quiet.”  Here goes:

The first thing that comes to mind when I see this word is that I’ve always been considered a quiet person.  But that never really bothered me because I have learned that being quiet has its possibilities.  For one, you are an observer so you get to learn a lot about life and life’s lessons from other people without necessarily having to make the same mistakes yourself.  For another you are a listener so you get to hear some pretty cool stories and gain some neat insight into those loved ones around you.  So quiet, here I come!

Another thing that was unrelated but I still wanted to share was that the Hillsong United song, None but Jesus, popped into my head as well.  The lyrics go like this:

“In the quiet, in the stillness
I know that you are God
In the secret of your presence
I know there I am restored
When you call I won’t refuse
Each new day, again I’ll choose

There is no one else for me
None but Jesus
Crucified to set me free
Now I live to bring Him praise”

So good to remember and so relevant for me as a “quiet” person.  For most importantly, as this song suggests, it is there in the quiet that I meet Jesus!

Thanks for your lovely post on meeting God in the midst of the quietness. I don’t think I’ve heard this song before but I love the words – thank you for including it in your post. There’s nothing quite like God’s presence 🙂

Bethany, I tend to be quiet at times too. That’s a great Hillsong United song. Visiting from FMF where I’m in the #7 spot.

Awwwh, glad it put a smile on your face! The picture was from a hike when “the mountain was out.” And thanks for the encouragement too.

I love this, Bethany!!!! I am definitely an observer, too. Love to watch people. You learn a lot that way! Sometimes being a quiet person is hard though. In group settings I feel out of place and find myself excluded. Be blessed!
