Five Minute Friday: Steady

The word for this week’s Five Minute Friday free-write is “steady.”  (Click on the image above to find some other great posts in the linkup too.) Here goes:

I’ve been thinking a lot about friendship lately as we go through a new devotional, Craving Connection, with my small group.  One question we asked each other recently was to name a consistent character trait we have had over the years.  I decided (for better or for worse) that mine was loyalty.

But another way to put it might be that I’m a steady or reliable person. I tend to be there when I say I will, to show up when I put things on my calendar, to not be too moody or unpredictable — steady.

This makes me think of Proverbs 17:7 , “A friend is always loyal and a brother is born to help in time of need.”  I hope I am that type of steady friend to those around me, to those within my sphere of influence right now.

So ask yourself, what is the one character trait that has stayed consistent through most of your life?  How has God used this to shape you and influence those around you?  It would be interesting to hear what you come up with!

  1. I think I am also steady. It’s really unfortunate that being steady is, more or less, a lost trait. Thank you for the thought provoking questions!
I’m visiting from FMF – it’s nice to “meet” you. 😊

  2. Thank you for your five minute Friday’s, for your steadiness and reliability as a friend, and for being a consistent good friend. I’m truly grateful for you in my life.
I’m loyal with my true friends and don’t give up my true friends. This is also a quality that’s lacking in many people even Christians these days. God is loyal, consistent, and doesn’t ever five up on us.

Love to Hear Your Thoughts!
