Five Minute Friday: Surprise

Surprise-2-600x600

This week’s Five Minute Friday word is ‘Surprise.”  **Make sure to click on the image above to find other great posts from the linkup.**  Here goes:

Sometimes your life is going along smoothly and predictably and then, surprise, it turns out God might have something else in store for you instead.  I kind of feel like that is what happened to me over this last week in regards to my job.

It all started with a chance conversation with someone.  I wasn’t even sure how much to share when she asked me what it was I did for work.  But I told her and then something prompted me to say, “But I really like writing too and would love to do something more with that someday.”  Her response to that simple statement of mine has caused me to rethink the possibilities in my career path.

This all certainly came as a surprise since I hadn’t exactly been thinking of switching anything up job-wise anytime soon.  But I guess it has made me realize that chance encounters and a simple start to a conversation can really be what changes the whole course of a life.  So will anything come out of this for me?  Only time will tell.

    Hi Bethany & all,
I always look forward to reading “Upward Trajectory”, thanks for sharing!
Yesterday I had a SURPRISE encounter too! One of those “AHA MOMENTS” When I tell God, “That must be You, Papa….You caught me…AGAIN”! Is He not an awesome God!
All the best darling! Thanks for being a blessing!

We never surprise Him but He does surprise us in the best ways. Thanks for sharing your experience of a seemingly “chance encounter which has the potential to open up a new path for you. Visiting from FMF.

Good to remember we can’t surprise God in our life with anything we do or say! But that He delights in giving us good surprises. 🙂
      Thanks,
      Bethany

I love how God can surprise us, and how he can use something as simple as a little conversation to change our whole way of thinking. I had a surprise like that a couple of weeks ago too.

Fun to hear that God speaks to others this way too and a good reminder to not let ANY moment of our day pass by unnoticed. Thanks for sharing.
      Thanks,

Hi! It’s not super intriguing at the moment as things are very much in the “checking it all out” phase. 🙂 But basically someone told me their daughter had taken an editing program through a local university and was now getting work as an editor through an Editing Guild she joined. It all just caused me to wonder if that might be a good step for me to take as well? Keep coming back as I’m sure I’ll be sharing more about this in the coming weeks!
      Thanks,
      Bethany
