This week for Five Minute Friday the word is “Limit.” **Be sure to click on the image above to check out some other posts from the linkup** So here goes:
The word “Limit” makes me think of boundaries. And some of what I have been learning lately has been about God’s boundaries for me. And how they are meant to be “for me” and not “against me.”
What I mean by this is that the limits God places on my life through his commandments in the Bible and from the check on my heart through His Spirit are there for my benefit. They are not there to keep me from having fun or to rain on my parade at all. No, on the contrary, they are there to help me have a full, rich and satisfying life that is to the glory of God!
I am reminded of the verse (and the song?) from Psalm 19:7-11 which says:
“The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure,
The decrees of the Lord are firm,
and all of them are righteous.
They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the honeycomb.
By them your servant is warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.”
Great reward. A GREAT reward. This is what God promises me with the limits and boundaries He sets for me. I think I’ll take it?!
